A general dentist is a health professional who specializes in caring for teeth, gums, and other tissues in the mouth. A dental specialist treats people who need special care for their teeth or gums.
The UPMC Community HealthChoices network includes general dentists and specialists. We cover exams, cleanings, fillings, and other services for UPMC Community HealthChoices participants. We also offer a $500 allowance each year to be used for certain services.
Participants who are dual eligible for Medicare and Medicaid must use their Medicare dental benefits before using UPMC Community HealthChoices benefits. When using Medicare benefits, dental providers must be in the participant’s Medicare network. When using UPMC Community HealthChoices benefits, dental providers must be in the UPMC Community HealthChoices network. Find participating UPMC Community HealthChoices dental providers.
Participants who need help finding a dental provider, or have questions about their dental benefit, can call the UPMC Community HealthChoices HealthCare Concierge team at 1-844-833-0523 (TTY: 711).
